


2026 GAO
The 2026 GAO will test the student’s knowledge and academic talents in the subjects of Mathematics and Science. Each student can choose to participate in any of the two disciplines in order to represent their school’s academic brainpower.

2.1 Mathematics: Geometry, Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus (Provided at the 11th grade level)

Participants
All students participating in the Global Youth Forum can participate in the Global Academic Olympiad. The students are to choose at least one test subject
3.1 Students may choose the test subject(s).
3.2 Students can register for the GAO when registering for the whole event.

General Test Information
Students need to bring their own pen, pencil, eraser, and/or white out to the test. The use of any other tools are prohibited.
Math and Science (Middle School)
4.1 The Math and Science tests consist of 50 multiple choice questions each.
- Math: 7th grade level (20%), 8th grade level (50%), 9th grade level (30%)
- Science: 7th grade level (20%), 8th grade level (50%), 9th grade level (30%)
4.2 The test time for each test is 40 minutes.
Math and Science (High School)
4.3 The Math and Science tests consist of 50 multiple choice questions each.
- Math: Geometry (12 questions), Algebra (13 questions), Trigonometry (13 questions), Calculus (12 questions)
- Science: Biology (13 questions), Chemistry (12 questions), Physics (13 questions), Earth Science (12 questions)
4.4 The test time for each test is 60 minutes. -
Test Scores
The detailed scores and percentages for each test are set as follows.
6.1 Math (High School) = Total of 50 points
- Geometry (12 points): Easy = 4 questions, 0.5 point each; Intermediate = 4 questions, 1 point each; Advanced = 4 questions, 1.5 points each
- Algebra (13 points): Easy = 3 questions, 0.5 point each; Intermediate = 4 questions, 1 point each; Advanced = 5 questions, 1.5 points each
- Trigonometry (13 points): Easy = 3 questions, 0.5 point each; Intermediate = 4 questions, 1 point each; advanced = 5 questions, 1.5 points each
- Calculus (12 points): Easy = 4 questions, 0.5 point each, Intermediate = 4 questions, 1 point each, Advanced = 4 questions, 1.5 points each
6.2 Science (High School) = Total of 50 points - Chemistry (12 points): Easy = 4 questions, 0.5 point each, Intermediate = 4 questions, 1 point each, Advanced = 4 questions, 1.5 points each
- Physics (13 points): Easy = 3 questions, 0.5 point each; Intermediate = 4 questions, 1 point each; Advanced = 5 questions, 1.5 points each
- Earth Science (12 points): Easy = 4 questions, 0.5 point each, Intermediate = 4 questions, 1 point each, Advanced = 4 questions, 1.5 points each

- 9th grade level (15 points): Easy = 5 questions, 0.5 point each, Intermediate = 5 questions, 1 point each, Advanced = 5questions, 1.5 point each

Test Grading
6.1 The organizing committee appoints proctors and graders for each subject.
6.2 The Math and Science tests will be graded according to the submitted answer sheets.

Attendance: There is a "No Tradiness" policy for all Global Academic Olympiad test: If a student arrives late or does not show up for a test, the student will not be allowed to take the test, not even at a later time, and, thus, will not be able to compete in this discipline of the GAO.
